Daughter took these at an Anthony Green concert a month ago, or so. We finally managed to get them off my cell phone. She's quite proud of them, and asked if I would pimp them out here for her.

Who could refuse such a request?

Anniversary

...couldn't choose between these two, both have elements that I really appreciate.

I love that Boogieman always remembers that I like white roses best.

Another Friday at the Barn

The barn where my daughter rides and works is just a little respite from the world for me. I love taking pictures there and conversing with the horses. They don't say much which makes them good listeners. :)

p.s. my 28-135mm lens had to go in for repairs, that's why I'm all about the 50mm these days, not that I mind because I love this little lens.

Here are a few of the horses.

A Smattering of Color

I went looking for some color yesterday, feeling the fatigue of the neutrality in the wintery outdoors, and I found some. I was just goofing around shooting the nail polish on the kitchen counter and really liked how the yellow wall and shallow DOF of the counter's edge turned out. Sometimes I just like to be a little abstract. :)

Sundown Road

This section of Sundown road bisects a cornfield and there is a dirt road on which to pull over. I had dropped my daughter off in the early morning yesterday, for her work shift at the barn, and of course, took this road home. The early morning sky is just amazing.

This is not the first time that I've photographed this tree, nor, I suspect, will it be the last. But it is the first time I've crossed the road to take a picture of the barn on the other side. I'm struck over and over again at how much nature and agriculture are tucked into the nooks and crannies of suburban Maryland. Or maybe it's the other way around.

A Snowy Series

(I can't say I've seen many magnolia trees with snow on them.)

Curiosity

What is this? And what is it doing on a horse farm?

My friend Reughr has started a 365 blog.

If you're so inclined, add her to your blogrolls.

Grey Sky Extra

Boogieman sends his apologies for his extended absence, apparently accounting is hell this week.

Being the photo whore that I am, I'm just oh-so-happy to fill in for him.

You're not surprised at that are you?

Pothos

As promised, here are my pictures of Pappy.

He's not my Pappy, but I sure wish he were. In fact, he really reminds me of my Papa. But, with a much harder life.

Bobby

A customer in our store yesterday.

As a Redskins fan, I gave him a hard time about his TO jersey, but apparently he is not a Dallas fan. He's a fan of the jersey ensemble and he has several *outfits.* Bobby is a musician and we had fun chatting while I resurfaced a couple of CD's for him. When I asked him if I could take his picture, he got very serious about striking a pose. What a cast of characters we get in our store, which I have to admit, is one of the best parts of my job.

Later, in the evening, I got the opportunity to shoot another character and one of my favorite customers ever: Pappy. I'll post a link when I get those shots up on the Amped Eye. I've got to work before I can play more today. :)

On Golden Pond

I caught the morning light just right on this hillside and little lake in our community, it really was this golden.

I accidentally shot the ducks at f/22, handheld, so I tricked out the shot a little to disguise the camera shake. Besides, I really like those ducks posterized!

Their colors are just amazing.

I'm posting two today, since Boogieman is absent. :)

Indoors, Outdoors

When it gets really cold outside, which it was yesterday, you'll see a lot of these types of shots from me. :)

Yes, as a matter of fact...

...she was raised in a barn.

(Our daughter's boots are never, ever where they are supposed to be.)

Heeeeeere's Boogieman

He looks introspective, but I think he was just tired. So tired that he did not even notice me taking the shot, since he is typically camera shy.

I don't like the little dog

(This was taken with a new addition to our camera family, a Canon Powershot S3 IS.)
