Another Friday at the Barn

The barn where my daughter rides and works is just a little respite from the world for me. I love taking pictures there and conversing with the horses. They don't say much which makes them good listeners. :)

p.s. my 28-135mm lens had to go in for repairs, that's why I'm all about the 50mm these days, not that I mind because I love this little lens.

Here are a few of the horses.

(great pic, btw)

Great detail. Being forced to use equipment differently when the usual stuff is out of commission can often present opportuntities.

I'm not sure what happened, Sharon. It was working fine, in terms of the images, but I could feel something shifting around in the cylinder. I'm guessing something to do with the image stabilization. Since it's under warranty, I sent it off to be checked out.

Thanks Angelfeet, I am kind of enjoying using the 50mm and having those opportunities to get a different shot than I might have with the zoom. Plus, it makes you move around more to compose your shot. Not a bad thing.

I loved the horse shots, great way to capture their personalities. This shot though is incredible! It really grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go.

fantastic!
I am very willing to gush and gush, I love the quietness, the understated colours and the light of the rope.
The horses and dog are just so beguiling.
I want to go there and visit them!
I think the enforced shooting with the 50mm is not a bad thing, you have inspired me, but I hope that your lens comes back soon and in good shape!

I love this shot! (I used to walk each day in Piedmont Park when I lived in Atlanta...always something interesting to photograph, and a respite from the rest of my day. I'm glad you have the barn--and we get the photos!)

I need to learn how to do this bokeh thing - maybe I need better equipment though. In this shot I really like how the rope is in sharp focus and the rest of the fence blurs and background blurs out. Very nice. Rustic.
